Sylius EU Vat Plugin

Sylius plugin that adds EU VAT number handling and validation to your e-commerce store using the VIES API webservice.

What It Does

• Adds two new attributes to the Channel entity: base country (the country your shop operates from) and European zone (the EU zone to target for VAT rules).
• Adds a VAT Number field to the Address entity, visible during checkout and in the customer account address book.
• Validates VAT numbers against the EU VIES API to ensure they are genuine and active.
• Validates address consistency — the country prefix of the VAT number must match the address country.
• Implements the basic European VAT rule for B2B cross-border transactions:
  • If the shop country equals the customer's VAT number country → taxes are applied normally.
  • If the shop country differs from the customer's VAT number country → taxes are automatically removed (reverse charge).

Entity Customisation

The plugin provides traits and interfaces (EuropeanChannelAwareTrait, VATNumberAwareTrait) that you apply to your existing Sylius Channel and Address entities. Both Doctrine attribute mappings and YAML ORM definitions are supported.

Fixtures

Built-in fixtures are included to bootstrap European VAT zones (sylius:fixture:load european_vat_zones) and to auto-configure your channel with a base country and European zone. Custom fixture suites can also be defined to seed addresses with VAT numbers.
